Gary Needham (he/they) is Senior Lecturer in Film and Screen Media at the University of Liverpool, UK.

He is the author and editor of several books including Asian Cinemas(2006), Queer TV (2009), Brokeback Mountain (2010), Warhol in Ten Takes (2013), United Artists (2020), and Screening American Film (2026), and is series editor of Hollywood Centenary (Routledge) and Screening Cinema (Routledge). His research has spanned film and screen studies, art history, and queer studies. He is a specialist in the artworks and cinema of Andy Warhol, visual cultures of AIDS, Hong Kong cinema, and the giallo film.
